For some events we will charge a fee to attend to help raise funds for the Green Party locally but at others there will be no charge. As dates and venues are confirmed, events will be uploaded here. Please keep your eyes peeled for future postings!
We hold a local party meeting every second Saturday of the month in Tavistock Library from 11am-1pm. The Green Party is very democratic and each local party is run by its members. This extends to our meetings where everyone is involved in the decision making process and encouraged to join in with us and what we want to do in the local area. The next few meeting dates are as follows:
You can just turn up to a meeting even if you have not yet joined, it would be great to see you there. If you do decide to join the party you will be sent an agenda, minutes and papers. We also send members a regular update so that everyone is kept informed about what is going on. Any member is able to have an item included on the agenda for discussion or decision making. Our meetings are friendly and we aim to have fun and help each other.
Unlike other parties we do not have a Chairman or leader as such but each year we elect some members to have responsibility for coordination, secretarial, communication and other activities. As much as possible we try to share responsibilities based on members’ interests so if you have any special skills or interests we would be more than happy to utilise your talents. Our current officers can be found under the "People" tab.
Every week we hold a stall in Bedford Square, Tavistock giving out information about our party and the things we do in the local area as well as on a national level. We also sell homemade cakes (produced in a nut free kitchen using organic, free-range and locally sourced ingredients), books, DVD's and CD's. If you would like some more information, an informal chat or just a tasty nibble please pop down and say hello. Some more information on our stall launch day can be found here.
