Following the May 4th election we now have five excellent councillors. Working with Independents the Green Party has shifted the Conservative's majority for the first time in over 20 years.

Lynn Daniel retained her South Tawton seat with a whopping 68% of the vote. In Chagford, Jane Elliott gained 65% of the vote. In other wards, Malcolm Caldwell won comfortably in Okehampton South, as did Terry Wheeler in Tavistock North, whilst Steve Guthrie pushed the sitting Conservative out of the Drewsteignton seat by just thirteen votes.

Greens will be forming an alliance with like-minded Independents to run the council as the biggest group. We hope that the three LibDem and Labour councillors will also join the group, giving a good sized majority able to make real changes on West Devon council.

A big thank you to all the brilliant candidates, successful or not, and all those who helped deliver hundreds of leaflets and support the campaign.
